I dont think it is a box turtle. As they normally have bright or dull top shells with mixtures of brown yellows and orange. The bottom of the shell is brown. I would like to know what the legs looked like ex. webbed claws and scales. If it was near a lake with a green top I would assume it would be an aquatic turtle of some sort as they always come out of the water in order to lay eggs. As I am not seeing the turtle I wont list a species as Im still unsure. Assuming it is not a box turtle eggs hatch at different times depending on weather conditions. But if it is warm enough and they can properly incubate they will hatch around midlate August. Sorry that is broad but its true. There is no set time for them and since I am unfamiliar with the species I cant be more specific. Just for a reference to box turtles check out billsboxturtles.com. They have pics. I hope I helped and good luck. P.S I hope you are not planning to take a baby out of the wild and into captivity please dont.
