News of Fish Questions

when questions come up about breeding, many people say get a certain ratio of females to males, but how can this be done if you buy them from a fish store? how can you tell?
i know there are a thousand diff types of fish, but lets talk about mollies, and malawi cichlids or convict cichlids
also what size tank would be good to breed...

mollies?
afra or lab cichlids (mbuna)?
convict cichlids?
platys?

I need to move tetras, corydoracats, killifish, and a 5 inch plecostomus across the country which will take 4 days. We will be traveling by car and I'm am wondering what would be the easiest and safest way to transport my fish? Would a styrafoam container work with airation? Thanks for the help.

I love to have a allot of color-full fish. So I have guppies platies a sucker fish two mini pond fish from my neighbors pond. That is all I have in a 30 gal tank I want to know a allot of color-full fish that would get along with all the other fish in my tank. Please help me. :)
