I have a parakeet, I had him a little over a week now, and I want to know how to start a relationship with him. I want to pet him, and start loving on him, but how do I get him to trust me? He can step on my finger, but out of the cage, he flies around the room if I try to set him on my shoulder or knee. Please help make friends ...

Post subject: How can I make a simple platform feeder to attract doves? Is that the best feeder? What to put in it? Posted: Wed Dec 09, 2009 12:42 pm |

I want the doves to come sing their pretty songs for me! I hear them in the neighbor's yards and want to encourage them to come nest and feed in my yard.
I looked up how to feed them and found they are ground or platform eaters. Don't want the birdseed to sprout in my lawn, so the platform seems the best option.
Read also that platform feeders need to be built to be easy ...

Post subject: Why do my Cockatiels hump a lot and why no eggs? Posted: Wed Dec 09, 2009 10:57 am |

My male cockatiel likes to hump two of my females yet no eggs are produced. Ive noticed in the last week they have been at it 3 or more times a day. Is this normal? I think they are old enough to breed (the male is 7 and the other females are 8 and 4)

Post subject: Is there such thing as lazy canaries? Posted: Wed Dec 09, 2009 8:17 am |
|
|
I have canaries that are kind of droopy. I have given them Baytril, and Ivomectrin, according to the vet's orders. My sickest canary wants to spend most of his time under a red heat-lamp.
I have others that just don't seem very playful and energetic.
They are all under 3 years old.
Is it possible that they are lazy and out of shape? Or are they sick?
What can I do about this problem?

Post subject: How long can a Canary palm tree survive? Posted: Wed Dec 09, 2009 8:12 am |

I am curious as to how long a Canary palm tree can survive. I have one that is leaning to its side. But some of its fronds are still green. I don't know how old it is. I wonder if it's about to fall and die or it's just having a backache and it's fine..
