Id need to clear a space for the cage because its huge and tall

Well if your whole family wants a guinea pig then id say go with that because itll get more attention. also if you cant get 2 rats then dont get one at all thats cruel because they NEED to socialize with eachother. thats like keeping a bee away from its colony.

Well first off if dad says one rat than get a Guinea pig. Rats are not solitary and will become lonely if you have one. Unless your dad will allow two rats then you must choose the Guinea pig. You didnt mention you couldnt have two of those so Im guessing you can but if not guinea pigs are generally the same way. They prefer a companion however they can learn to be solitary unlike the rat.

Also rats can live a pretty long time depending on how well you take care of them and alternatively a guinea pig can die pretty early if you dont. If you plan on being a vigilant owner life span shouldnt worry you too much. My last pet rat was 6

I personally like rats because theyre smarter but they can be nippy if they dont trust you. Guinea pigs are the same though so this shouldnt be a deciding factor. I also like rats because their dietary needs arent quite as extensive and strict as a guinea pigs dietary needs.

Hope I helped and good luck choosing

i have had a rat and a guinea pig and i think rats are much more fun . rats are smarter my rat comes when you call his name but Rats are more prone to get sick : and If you give your rat a lot of love and dont come on to strong at first he most likely will not bite .

I think you should get a guinea pig but if you do you have to get two of them. Your guinea pig will get so depressed that it will stop eating and drinking until it dies. Get two guinea pigs. They are so funny. If you put two on the floor they chase eachother and jump up and down and squeak. They are the best pet in the world. I own 8 of them and my friend has 12.

I say guinea pigs i have them and they are really funny they are really cute and they dont bite you they may nibble sometimes but it doesnt hurt or anything my guinea pig loves to lick my hand all the time it is really cute. Also they love cuddles which i love the most i also love when they squeak when you bring them food and wait for you to get up and see them in the mornings. But you also need 2 guinea pigs they need to the company/ need to socialize

Id say a guinea pig. Rats dont do well alone so you dont want a sad lonely rat of course. Also your family approves of the guinea pig more so itd be more fun for the family and they might even help you care for it.
