I clean out my piggies every day. I use newspaper underneath then safe bed and hay in the bedroom area and more hay in a hay manger clipped to the side.

you should change it once a week. Also you can use shredded paper but it wont soak up the urine and odors as well as cedar or other bedding may. I use Pine/Cedar bedding for my guinea pig but be careful because alot of guinea pigs can be allergic to the wood bedding so if you notice hair loss then switch to corn cob or recycled bedding. I hope this helps

If you have 2 guinea pigs then every other day should stop the cage from getting smelly. For my guinea pigs i use a sheet of newspaper on the bottom then i cover the ground with woodshavings with extracted dust if it has dust it could get in there eyes. also put some hay down to make them more comfortable.
You could use shreaded paper but they are more likely to eat it and fill up on that and then wont eat there proper food.
if you have 1 guinea pig then you wont have to clean it out as often but if you have more than 2 than they might need cleaning out a bit more often.
