Usually you can figure on 1 inch of fish per gallon.
So for 45 litres you can figure approx. 31cm of fish.

1 goldfish would fit in nicely. But only one. And they swim everywhere. 1 goldfish per 10 gallons.

hello! i have recently set up a 45 litre tropical tank, and it can be tedious looking for advice you often get told you cant have anything but 1 goldfish or 1 siemese fighting fish. this is not the case!

i currently have 5 green neon tetras in mine (green neons are just a bit smaller than normal neons, and their stripes dont stand out off their body as much)

and i will over the next few months be adding some sort of combination of dwarf pencil fish, guppies, endlers, platy, shrimp and snail.

i have found this website one of the most useful : http://www.aquahobby.com

there is advice, articles and fish profiles on there. i would recommend putting live plants, gravel, bog wood and a couple of ornaments in your tank to creat some hiding places as this helps.

what sort of fish would you like? which fish are you fond of? i'd be more than happy to help you with a real stocking suggestion that isnt just negative saying one fish! :)

J

edit: oh just noticed you posted this over a year ago! you probably ddont need advice now aha. but still happy to help if you do
