is there any kind of tropical fish that can be in a fish tank with yellow bellied slider turtles? well i have an 8 gallon tank with yellowbellied sliders that are 2in from head to tail and i was thinking about putting tropical fish in there too so is there any kind of small fish that can be in the tank with my turtles without the turtles eating them?

well thous turtles if healthy will out grow that tank in the next few months...and turtles are very very dirty...and very aggressive to fish....there is no fish that should be kept with turtles unless they are feeders...I am not incorrect...i have seen turtles eat fish 2X there size...not only that but if they are female they will get up to a 12 or over and males will reach about 68in as an average...an will even tank out an oscar

try a ballon bellied molly it would be too fat for the turtle to eat. they are small and cute.

Sadly Graham R is incorrect. All you have to do it make sure the fish are larger than the turtles and fast. Dont get anything pudgey as it will be thought of as food.

For the turtles you need a water area and a basking area
Something like a 6x2x2 tank c 175G
You could put some fish in the water area but the turtles will eat them as they live on fish in the wild

Fish are too dirty to keep fish in the water even if you kept the tank pristine it would still be too much for a fish.
I only recommend putting feeders in there to actually feed the turtle once they are older
