This seems to be pretty technical feat for a dog, but if its possible, what training methods should be used. I have a weimaranar and a GSP

Nearly anything is possible. And with proper training and experience, retrieving a can from the fridge is do-able.

However, this would be quite difficult if you have no prior training experience beyond "sit" and "lay down"

I suggest contacting a local trainer and learning about clicker training. That would be the method that I would use in a situation such as this.

Something you should keep in mind though is, do you really want your dog to have the knowledge to open the fridge at will?

yes they can get a can from fridge but you need to watch they don't helpfully clean out the fridge while they are in it.

my friend taught her bc to get a beer can out of the fridge when they come home from work..
and put it on the counter.

one time the dog got bored and put many beer cans on on the counter..then the dog ate everything in the fridge and almost died since they ate things that were NOT good for them..

so yes it's possible.
but you can NEVER leave them unsupervised.
