 Post subject: How do I keep my overweight parakeet from becoming dangerously fat?

My bird suddenly became fat last week when I switched out his food with a new one. He's been in his cage more than usual. How do I exercise him if he can't fly so he can stop gaining weight? He's starting to hunch over. Thanks.
