We have had green cheek conures in our family for years. The old man got them while he was in the service (and single.) After a couple of years they learned to share him with me. We didn't let them free fly throught the house while the babies were small (AFTER much DISCUSSION!) The kids came to love them as the wonderful personalities they are. When we had one of the three pass, it was a family tragedy. We finally got some to mate and the life lessons our children have learned were worth the toil and trouble of their mess. I hope I have answered your question, but I guess it's all in your own personal experience. They would make good pets but it depends on the tempermant of each one as to how they get along with children (and spouses!)
